Doesn't come with LIGHT BULB!!! Takes FOREVER!!

My daughter wanted this sooooo bad for her birthday. Imagine the disappointment when we opened it and she wanted to play with it, but we didn't have a light bulb to melt the candy into the molds.
We searched all our light fixtures in the house to "borrow" one; however this one uses a special small based blunt tip 40W chandelier bulb.
Once we found this specialty bulb at a large retail hardware store, she filled her little mold tray. It took about 1 1/2 hours to make 4 tiny pieces of candy and about 4 minutes for her to string it through a licorice rope and eat it. The refill kits are expensive. You're better off getting a roll of Lifesavers and stringing them on licorice ropes or yarn because that's basically what this is! |
Does not work!

| The packaging does not indicate that it does not come with a 40W bulb, so I had to run out to get the bulb while my kid was ready to 'cook' her candy. Then realized bulb was not strong enough to melt candy into mold, we tried to cook it multiple times and it did not work. The candy came in un-resealable baggies which was very difficult to contain so be aware that it will get everywhere. My kid was so frustrated with it not working and gave up on it. It was complete waste of time. |
Great Experience

| My grand daughter really loves this toy. She use to always buy those candy rings and necklaces so this was a must have for her. She thoroughly loves making different necklaces and bracelets and then immediately eating them. Yes it does not come with a light bulb but it says so on the box. Just like any toy these days you have to look to see what is not included. Same goes for batteries on other toys. |
Don't waste your money

| This product does not work as described. The oven does not come with the light bulb required and said light bulb is hard to find. The oven does not heat well, nor evenly. Some of the smaller candy finally melted after about an hour, but the other candy did not. It's hard to get the melted candy out while trying to leave the unmelted candy undisturbed. It was such a disappointment! |
Better than expected.

I bought this after reading about it taking forever to melt and had low expectations. However, I read the directions and found it clearly says to use the sprinkles as decoration and then fill the mold with the candy pellets (big ones that are pink and green). The sprinkles do not melt and if you don't put enough candy pellets in, it won't work. We did use too many sprinkles on a few and all we had to do is put a few candy pellets on and then put it back through. Worked just fine. My 3 and 7 year old had a lot of fun with it (even though it says 8 and up). You do need the lightbulb but I did get that ahead of time. Christmas Day with all the stores closed, it would be a major disappointment to not have the bulb. Bad call by the manufacturer!
