Nice clock to use for teaching your child how to read time to the minute. Not wooden as a previous reviewer wrote. It is plastic with a stand to stand up or remove the stand to lay down. It is the smaller one pictures. There is no book with this, just the clock.

This is a decent learning tool/toy and my daughter has spent a bit of time with the clock.
HOWEVER, the product description is so brief that a very important fact is omitted. The clock hands do not move on their own. The hands must be manually manipulated.
Though the product description says, “Hidden gears maintain correct hour and minute relationships,” these are only to keep the hands in sync so that as you MANUALLY move the minute hand, the hour hand will also move with it.

I ordered 2 of these; one for the family room and one for my 7 year old son’s room to reinforce what he has learned about reading a clock (I work with 8th graders and most can’t read a clock with hands, only a digital clock). Nowhere in the description does it say that the hands don’t move unless you move them. That fact should be made clear. Only when you get this does it state on the back of the box in tiny letters “not a working clock”. As a tool for very small children, this would be great. But it is a teaching toy, not a clock.

I got this because one of my children was having a hard time with learning to tell time on an analog clock. I really like it that the minute and hour hands are color-coded to the corresponding areas on the clock face. The hour hand is red and so are all the big numbers. The minute hand is blue and there is a blue ring around the hour numbers that show the minutes. That’s great since one of the problems was remembering which hand went with hours or minutes.
The clock itself is smaller than I expected but it does state correctly in the description it is 5″. I guess I let the picture look bigger than it was. :) This clock can take a lot of abuse and still work fine too. My toddler loves playing with this.

My kids really like to play with this learning clock. It’s made of durable wood material, and it’s bright primary color’s are appealing. They like to sort out the different shapes that fit into the appropriate time slot-and that activity helps them to understand how to read the clock. Overall, I am happy with this purchase, and so are the little ones!
